What this dataset is

Paid holiday APIs charge for what should be simple reference data. This page gives you the essentials in one place: a clean, flat CSV of national public holidays for 21 major countries, for 2026 and 2027, compiled from open public sources. Use it for HR planning, payroll calendars, scheduling tools, travel apps, or spreadsheet analysis.

Each row is a holiday observed across the whole country. Regional or state-only observances are excluded so the list stays comparable between countries.

Disclaimer: dates are compiled from public sources and cross-checked where noted below. Holiday proclamations can change, and lunar-calendar holidays are estimates. Verify locally before business use.

Attribution: holiday data compiled from Nager.Date (MIT-licensed open API). United Kingdom dates cross-checked against the official UK government bank holidays at gov.uk.

Need more than a CSV?

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is included in the CSV?

One row per national public holiday: country name, ISO country code, date (YYYY-MM-DD), holiday name, and year. Only holidays classified as public and observed countrywide are included. State, provincial, or regional observances are excluded so every country's list is directly comparable.

Where does the data come from?

The dataset is compiled from Nager.Date (date.nager.at), a free MIT-licensed open API for public holidays. United Kingdom dates were independently cross-checked against the official UK government bank holiday calendar at gov.uk, and matched on every date. No data was invented: every row traces to the source API response.

Why is a well-known day missing, like US Columbus Day or Mexico's Holy Thursday?

The list follows the source's "Public" classification strictly. Days typed only as bank, school, observance, or optional days are excluded even when widely observed. For example, Nager.Date types US Columbus Day as bank-only at national level, and Mexico's Holy Thursday and Good Friday as bank and school days rather than statutory public holidays. When in doubt, check your country's official gazette.

Can I use this dataset commercially?

The upstream sources are MIT-licensed (Nager.Date) and public government data (gov.uk), and this compiled CSV is provided free for any use. It comes with no warranty: verify dates against official sources before relying on them for payroll, contracts, or compliance.

Will you add more countries or years?

2027 coverage is included for all 21 countries where the source publishes it. More countries, historical years, and regional breakdowns are planned for the premium API tier noted above. The free CSV stays free.
